09:45-10:35 Niels Bøje Ziegler: Redesign. Hvorfor. Hvordan.

Som Art Director skal man kunne navigere i et redaktionelt miljø. Art Directoren er (bør være) leder af den kreative proces, når der skal ske ændringer i magasinets design. Derfor er det vigtigt at Art Directoren er i stand til at sælge sine ideer til redaktionen og redaktionen (chefredaktøren) skal både være parat til at lytte og til at give plads til forandring/nytænkning. Et redesign kræver ofte ændringer af redaktionens arbejdsrutiner, så den skal også være omstillingsparat. Det er både det indre og det ydre der skal redesignes.

With so many photographers and stylists working for both editorial and advertisers, fashion magazines are finding it impossible to create a distinct tone of voice through their imagery. Instead, it is typography that is increasingly being used to separate ’ed’ from ’ad’. Joining the likes of David James’ Another and M/M’s Arena Homme Plus is new-look French bi-annual Very Elle, designed by Non-Format’s Jon Forss and Kjell Ekhorn. (from Creative Review)

Previously Florian Bachleda was the Design Director of Vibe magazine, which has won several design awards. Now he is the Creative Director of FB Design, a graphic design studio in New York City. He is also the Creative Director of Latina magazine and of Doubledown Media, which publishes Trader Monthly, Dealmaker, Private Air and Corporate Leader magazine.

 

14:25-15:15 Michael Pangilinan • Nylon magazine

»Standard fashion magazines don’t hold a candle to Nylon magazine. Different from the rest for a long list of reason, it holds a captive audience of savvy, intelligent women, interested in more than just the up and coming fashions and where to buy them. The celebrities featured are often more obscure, and when a headliner is featured on the cover, the article usually focuses on an aspect of her life not captured in your normal interview.
